The Nursery Day

Our Learning Day

Whether your child will be attending our morning or all day sessions, you and your child will enter through the main nursery door when the session begins. Parents are then able to walk their child to the cloakroom where you can support your child to hang up their own coat and bag.

At the end of your child's nursery session you will be able to collect them by coming through the same gate that you entered when dropping them off and staff will be at the main nursery door to greet you and dismiss your child.

Our Nursery Timetable

At Crowan Nursery we are proud to offer effective school-based provision. School-based provision includes a more structured approach to teaching Phonics, Maths and Topic related knowledge that promotes understanding of the world around us. Our provision and learning environment is planned for effectively to ensure that the children can experience the best quality pre-school learning in order to promote school readiness.

At the start of their nursery day, your child will always be greeted with a friendly smile and welcome by the nursery staff. Adults within the classroom work hard to develop positive relationships with your child in order for them to make progress and feel comfortable within the nursery setting.

Once inside the nursery, your child will be supported to develop their independence with self-care needs. Developing independence and resilience is also vital to ensure your child aims to succeed in their learning and become 'school-ready'. Your child with have their own peg to keep their personal belongings together and safe.

Everyday, your child will learn and practice recognising and writing their name, learning each letter one by one thoroughly.

The nursery day then continues through a more structured routine starting with continuous provision (free-flow play) activities. During continuous provision your child will be able to freely explore the wide range of activities both indoors and outdoors. These activities cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum.

The day is continued through the direct teaching of Phonics, Maths and Topic related learning. Providing short, focused direct teaching activities aids to bridge the gap between a pre-school setting and school and has been proven to aid smoother transitions and better outcomes for pupils.

Toilet Training

At Crowan Nursery, we pride ourselves in supporting children through their toilet training phase. We understand that all children are unique and will learn and develop skills at different times throughout their lives. Therefore, we ensure that every child is supported through these phases effectively. If you would like advice with toilet training, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help you.
