Welcome to our class page! Here you’ll find updates about what the children are learning this term, along with some photos of their work to give you a glimpse of what we’ve been up to in class. It’s a great way to keep connected with our learning journey, and I hope you enjoy seeing all the wonderful things the children are doing.

Today we had a fantastic time at Clowance Estate for our Forest Schools PE lesson. The children took part in a scavenger hunt, exploring the grounds and working together to find different items from nature. It was a great mix of exercise, teamwork, and outdoor learning – and we all enjoyed being out in the fresh air!

Haiku Poetry Challenge
Our children have been exploring the art of Haiku – a traditional Japanese form of poetry that captures a moment in just three lines. Each Haiku follows a simple structure:

  • Line 1: 5 syllables
  • Line 2: 7 syllables
  • Line 3: 5 syllables

After writing their poems, the children worked collaboratively to check each other’s syllable counts, ensuring their Haikus were accurate and true to the form. This activity not only encouraged creativity but also developed their attention to detail and teamwork skills.

Exploring Colour and Still Life in Art
In Art, we have begun our new topic on painting, taking inspiration from Fruits from the Midi by Renoir. The children are learning about colour mixing using the primary colours and developing their skills in still life composition. Today, they focused on painting fruits, paying close attention to the intricate details they could see. This activity encourages observation, creativity, and an appreciation of the techniques used by great artists.
