School Uniform

School uniform plays a vital role in promoting the ethos of a school, providing a sense of belonging and identity and setting an appropriate tone for education.  By creating a common identity amongst all pupils, regardless of background, a school uniform can also act as a social leveller.

The “Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Act 2021” states that all stipulated school uniform items must be affordable for all and any branded items, purchased through uniform suppliers, offer value for money.  This statutory guidance came into effect in September 2022.

The Aspire Uniform Policy, formed in part by parent/pupil voice, ensures each individual uniform offering across the trust is in line with this legislation and helps maintain the balance between affordability and upholding of school ethos and identity.

Our school uniform is important to us. It is one way in which we identify ourselves as a school family and it promotes a strong, cohesive school identity, which supports high standards and expectations in all areas of school life. It promotes harmony between different groups represented in the school, and enhances security, assisting the school to identify individual pupils so good order can be maintained. Smartness and high standards of appearance are expected at all times.

All children should wear the uniform and we encourage them to maintain an acceptable standard of clean and tidy dress in school. All items of uniform clothing must be identified with the child’s name.

Our School uniform consists of:
  • Royal blue jumper/cardigan/sweatshirt (school logo optional)
  • White polo shirt
  • Dark grey or black trousers/shorts/skirts - no leggings
  • Flat, smart black shoes - no trainers/open toes
  • Small earring studs are permitted (no other jewellery should be worn)
Parents and carers are reminded that children often sit cross legged in school, therefore skirts should be chosen to ensure children can do this comfortably and without embarrassment.

PE and games kit:

• Blue polo shirt (school logo optional)
• Black shorts
• Plimsolls/trainers
• OPTIONAL items: Crowan PE hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms (hoodies are not to be worn as part of the main school uniform)

For health and safety reasons, it is essential that children are dressed appropriately for any physical activity. Appropriate footwear is essential: trainers or plimsolls must be worn (unless barefoot for certain activities).

All children are given a book bag for carrying their reading books. These are initially given to children free of charge, however replacements can be bought from the school office.
If you wish to purchase uniform that includes the school logo, this can be bought through our suppliers School Trends. There is a small delivery charge if it is delivered to your home but it can be delivered to the school free of charge.
PRELOVED UNIFORM

The school has a small selection of donated uniform that is available to parents free of charge, this is available at any time from the school office.
